Simultaneous use of USB and DVI

With Minrray’s new UV820-USB3.0 we finally have a solution to upgrade current H.323 video conferencing codec’s and allow them to stream to any computer using USB 3.0. USB 3.0 is 10X faster than regular USB 2.0 allowing for full HD 1920×1080 resolution at 60 frames per second. Same goes for our DVI-I which can be easily converted to HDMI or VGA to feed high definition video to any hardware based H.323/SIP system.

Practical Applications

The thinking when putting this camera model together was that the DVI-I output can be used for streaming to existing infrastructure while adding the USB 3.0 for cloud based users. Although many other practical UV820 applications exist for the DVI-I. For example the DVI output can be used for an external confidence monitor for webinar users. The DVI-I output can be used to stream to broadcasting equipment while combining new age USB technology on the cloud.

Using RS-232 Control

RS-232 control is the standard for remote camera control. Using Crestron and Extron control systems that either already in place or planning for programming today the Minrray UV820-USB3.0 will support it. Crestron offers a wide variety of touch screen control and remote far side room control options that suit the needs of advanced video conferencing. Similarly extron provides great touch screen control and video distribution options that can enhance modern day video conferencing. But finally software RS-232 control systems such as Young Monkey and RocoSoft allow for more affordable ways to achieve camera control. Young Monkey has been a popular version because it can control multiple cameras using a USB HUB. The RocoSoft is popular in it’s own way because of the price and attractive interface. Both software version can be purchased for a one time license fee of $150.

We are extremely excited about Minrray’s new UV820 USB 3.0 HD 1920×1080 video conferencing camera line. Currently we have tested with Skype and Zoom.US and we are in the process of testing software online meeting tools like GoToMeeting, WebEX, Cisco Jabber, MS Lync and Adobe Connect. The UV820 Minrray camera is the first of it’s kind in the USB 3.0 Video Conferencing world. With USB 3.0 we now 10X times the speed of a USB 2.0 connection. This improves the clarity, frame rates and perceived picture quality on both ends of the online meetings and cloud based video conferencing calls.

As far as optical zoom and field of view we felt like the 62º wide angle was sufficient for most conference rooms and the 18X optical Zoom brings together a whole new aspect of video conferencing. Optical Zoom allows for lossless image enhancements of your picture. With full 1080p resolution you can zoom and focus on what really matters in your meeting the meeting participants! With 18X optical zoom we knew that 30 and 60 fps options were going to be important. Since this is already a ground breaking camera we had to make sure to match the specs on the highest end Video Conferencing in and outside of the USB 3.0 overviewUSB video conferencing world.

Optical Quality and CMOS Sensor Support is was also crucial for this camera’s price point. The optical zoom is one thing but the high quality optics are a completely separate beast. Seeing is believing when it comes to high quality optics so we have Webinars every Friday @ 9AM PST / 12PM EST. Check out the high quality HD picture in full 1920×1080 over a typical video conferencing setting / webinar setting. During our Video Conferencing webinars and calls we review the entire product line and demonstrate the USB 3.0 quality.

FAQs for Minrray UV820-USB3.0

Q: Image width appears to be compressed (distorted aspect ratio) on the HaddleCam HD 18x demo video. Is this typical of this unit?
— Asked by Gerry King on May 1, 2014
A: The intro video was recorded in 1080p and the USB connection was recorded in 720p using Zoom.US. The camera is definitely capable of 1080p 60fps.
